What do you get when you cross a vibrator with medicine and 1880 London?  Why, the movie Hysteria, of course.  This English comedy is a period piece that took place in 1880 London and focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of women with hysteria.  Doesn’t sound funny, you say?  It’s actually amusing and clever, in a dry, English sort of way.  The chemistry between Hugh Dancy as Dr. Mortimer Granville and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Charlotte Darymple, the daughter of Dr. Darymple, played by Jonathan Pryce, makes this piece work.  Buy it, rent it, stream it, but don’t miss it!  This is Stephen R. Morse with another fun movie review.  Talley ho!.
