The Iron Lady – Meryl Streep

April 15, 2012

Last month when I watched this years Academy Awards show, I didn’t really raise an eyebrow when Meryl Streep won Best Actress for the Iron Lady.  After all, doesn’t she always win?  So when I watched the Iron Lady last night, I thought it would be a good movie, but two things stuck out.  First, Streep’s focus and attention to detail in capturing subtle mannerisms and facial expressions was just amazing.  You literally thought that you were watching a documentary of MT.  Second, I wasn’t expecting the movie to be as brutually honest as it was in portraying  the human frailty of a great leader.  To see MT living  what seemed like a forgotten existence and fading into the sunset was upsetting.  I had to google her to see if the poor woman passed while I wasn’t paying attention.  Anyway, very well-done.  I give it five stars *****.  What do you think?  Was it Oscar worthy?  This is Steve R Morse in Fort Lauderdale with a review of the Iron Lady.
