Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon Bismark Mountain Vineyard 2004

April 8, 2012

Hanna winery has been around for a long time.  Dr. Hanna was a cardiologist who settled in San Francisco in the 70s.  His daughter Christine now runs the business.  All of there wines are historically good and receive great reviews.  The top wines come from high on the Mayacamus mountain range at the Bismark Mountain Vineyard.  Their Cabernet and Zinfandels from Bismark are full-bodied big bold reds.  The 2004 Cabernet is about 78% cab and the rest merlot to round out the palate.  This vintage is  a ripe one, so I expected this fruit forward wine to be over the top.  It wasn’t over the top, but did offer ample fruit and typical cabernet notes of berry and chocolate.  I wish it had a stronger mid-palate and a longer finish.  I would rate it a *** good, but just ok for the price.  See  for more info.  This is Steve R Morse in Fort Lauderdale bringing you another fine wine review.
