le Patio Restaurant – Wilton Manors

March 22, 2012

Last Sunday my friends and I stopped in at le Patio in Wilton Manors for dinner.  An adorable little place tucked away on a side street off the drive, we didn’t have reservations and there are only about 5 tables, so we ended up eating at the one table outside.  It actually turned out to be a great table and the weather that night was perfect.  We aksed the two ladies who own/run the restaurant to order for us.  We started out with a bottle of Portuguese Rose that tasted like gasoline.  They were kind enough to take it away and brought us another bottle.  The second rose was from Spain.  I would have thought that a french owned bistro would at least have a Provence rose.  For starters, the three of us had Soupe l’oignon gratinee, which was excellent and clearly homemade.  This was followed by a country pate, which was served with a bread basket and was good.  The entrees were disappointing.  The mashed potatoes that accompanied the beef stew and the shepherd’s pie did not appear to be homemade.  The sauce on the lobster ravioli was very good, but the ravioli was a food service item and not very good.  I would come back for the ambience and perhaps a bottle of (better) wine and a bowl of soup and call it a night.  This is Steve R Morse in Fort Lauderdale with another local restaurant review.

I ate there a few times when they first opened. It was OK, however, there are so many really good restaurants in the area that they try hard but can’t compete.

So what do you think? Really.........
