Sage Restaurant Fort Lauderdale
Last night we went in the pouring rain to Sage Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. We have been there many times in the past, so it’s our local “go to” place. Talk about a place where the food is great, reasonably priced, and the ambience and service is excellent. Chef Laurent is the owner and does a great job. Monday and Tuesday are 2 for 1 dinners, so that was an added bonus. We ordered a great bottle of bordeaux from St. Julien (lalande-borie) that was very reasonably priced. We skipped the appetizers this time, but usually I get the cheese and pate plate, which is utterly decadent. I ordered the steak au-poivre, which was cooked to perfection. It is every bit as good as a steak from any of the high-priced steak-houses in town, but for a lot less money. My dining partner had the meatloaf, which was baked to perfection. It’s easy to cook a steak, meatloaf not so much. It takes practice if you want a good one. This was a good one. Whether you get mashed potatoes, roasted or french fried, the sides are all good. Even the bread tray had the right amount of shatter and crunch when you used it to sop up the gravy. Our advice: check it out! This is a five-star local experience. I agree, Sage is wonderful and both dishes that you describe are unbeatable.
